Systems Librarian Susie Bille recommends Fine Wood Working magazine.

Cautiously entering my grandfather’s shop, I settled down to quietly wait in a pile of wood shavings. Rewarded by a quick glance, his fingers carved and fitted small pieces of wood that would become the tambour of a roll top desk. I was fascinated.
There’s an art of working with wood that few manage to achieve.
This 50-year anniversary issue of Fine Wood Working magazine honors several legendary woodworkers. George Nakashima was trained as an architect, and he learned Japanese joinery during years spent at the Minidoka War Relocation Center (our Internment Camp) during World War II. He developed an aesthetic to honor wood, creating the first pieces with a live-edge.
Sam Maloof, James Krenov, and Tage Frid are also featured. Generations of woodworkers have studied under these teachers and happily continue their work. This latest issue of Fine Woodworking gives inspiration to all of us who love to work with our hands.
