NPR’s Morning Edition with George Prentice
Collections Manager, Aly Wepplo, and Children’s and Young Adult Library Director, DeAnn Campbell, were featured on NPR’s Morning Edition April 1, 2024. They spoke with host George Prentice about the right to read whatever you want, particularly as your interests change and expand.

20-Minute Reading Challenge and Raffle
Daily
Read 20 Minutes a Day! Enter once a day and each time you’ll get a raffle ticket to win a great prize!
Prizes include: Four $25 gift cards to Gold Mine Thrift, water bottle, wine tumbler, “One True Sentence” Hemingway journal, and more. The Grand Prize is a visit to the Historic Ernest and Mary Hemingway House for up to four people. Limit: one prize per person. Entrants need not be present to win. Grab a cookie and a cup of tea or bubbly water during the raffle!
Children’s Library: Story Time
Monday, April 8, 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.
Join us in the Tree House for Story Time followed by a craft in the Children’s Library. This week the theme is “Libraries”! Story Time is best suited for preschool age children. (No unattended children in the Library, please.)
Kids, tweens, and teens can also post what they love about the Library on the big bulletin board in the Children’s Library.
“Right to Read” Video Recordings
Monday, April 8, 1:00- 5:00 p.m.
Share your story in the Library foyer, where we’ll be recording short snippets of patrons of all ages and interests. Tell us your first name and what book you celebrate the right to read and why.
You are encouraged to hold the book you’re celebrating. Note: You MUST sign a release form to participate. Those under 18 must have a parent’s/guardian’s signature.
Foyer Slideshow: A Short History of National Library Week
Plus Book Recommendations
Cruise through 66 years of National Library Week, featuring vintage posters and banned/challenged books from corresponding years.
You’ll also find a wide variety of book recommendations on display in all genres from Library staff.
