The golden age of television that has loomed large in American pop culture for a number of years has morphed into the era of Too Much Good TV. How to make sense of it all? The TV Discussion Group, which will meet weekly from January 9 through February 6, is a place where TV obsessives and skeptics gather to dissect one season of a prestige drama. This time out, the group will analyze the intricate plots and deep character development of season one of “Fargo,” much as a book group critiques a novel. “Fargo” the series was descended from the Coen brothers’ award-winning movie of the same name, but it is its own beast – complete with mayhem, romance, dark comedy, a hapless protagonist, heroes to root for and a villain who could make the devil sweat, even in frozen Minnesota.
Ketchum resident Mimi Avins, who covered pop culture in her years as a staff writer for The Los Angeles Times, will lead the discussion. Each session will explore two episodes of the series.
