“This is the second of two terrific films I’ve owned for over 40 years from showings at the Las Vegas Foreign Film Society. Both are dedicated to the outstanding musical talents we have in the Wood River Valley; among them Caritas Chorale, The Wood River Orchestra, and The Sun Valley Summer Symphony.
This second Italian film from the 1970’s also deals with an orchestra rehearsal but in a strikingly different way. No surprise there; “Allegro Non Troppo” is an animated fantasy that was inspired by but surpasses Disney’s Fantasia in many respects. It’s creator Bruno Bozzetto has been widely hailed as a more modern and adult-oriented animator than Disney. It’s a terrific tongue-in cheek spoof of Fantasia with wonderful music and animation, including well-known classics by Dvorak, Sibelius, Debussy, Ravel, Vivaldi, and Stravinsky.” -Gary
