In celebration of National Poetry Month, our two drop-in writing workshops in April will transform into a poetry discussion and opportunity for creative writing.
During each workshop on April 13 and 27, from 12:00-1:00 (MST), we’ll read a poem together, discuss its themes and relation to our lives, then there will be an optional poetry prompt and opportunity to share your writing and hear from others.
The workshops are led by Martha Williams, the Library’s programs and education manager.

This workshop is a 6-week series for memoir and autobiography writing, led by Tony Tekaroniake Evans.
The workshops will be fashioned around the mythologist Joseph Campbell’s idea of the “Hero’s Journey.” We will also identify Jungian archetypes in our life stories.
Wednesdays, April 7 – May 12 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. (MST) on Zoom.
The class size will be limited to 12 students.

The Creative Writing Workshop provides a supportive atmosphere where local writers can share their work. Please bring your favorite books, stories and poems, and samples of your works-in-progress. Writing topics, styles and techniques will be explored weekly.
Tony Tekaroniake Evans is an award-winning journalist and columnist at the Idaho Mountain Express newspaper in Ketchum who has led writing workshops in the Wood River Valley since 2004. He is also a memoir editor and the author of two books of nonfiction: Teaching Native Pride: Upward Bound and the Legacy of Isabel Bond (WSU Press 2020) and A History of Indians in the Sun Valley Area (Blaine County Historical Museum 2016). His forthcoming book, Memory and Destiny, the Life of Glenn Janss, releases in 2021.
