Join us for the opening of The Community Seed Library. This event will feature a seed exchange hosted by seed saver John Caccia. A seed exchange is a gathering of growers who want to share knowledge about local gardening and swap seeds. Seeds in our seed library are available for you to take for free! You can also bring extra seeds to contribute to the seed library.

Earth Day Panel Discussion: Water, Energy and Food
Wildfires, water scarcity, energy unreliability, food price risk and availability, and erratic weather patterns (including changes in snowfall) all contribute to the area’s vulnerability. These economic, energy and environmental factors can have a devastating impact on business revenues, tourism, the ability to attract residents and investment, and on overall quality of life.
On Thursday, April 23, at 6 pm at the Community Library in Ketchum, A panel of local experts, Aimee Christensen, from the Sun Valley Institute for Resilience, Ali Long of the Local Food Alliance, Ben Otto of the Idaho Conservation League and Wendy Pabich, Water Adviser for SVIR and CEO of Water Futures, will discuss how the risks we face can become opportunities. Increasing our resilience by investing in the strategic assets of energy, food, water and wildland restoration means we can strengthen our economy and become a model for others.
This event is hosted by the Idaho Conservation League, Environmental Resource Center, and Sun Valley Institute for Resilience.
Lecture: France between 1940 and 1944, a Tale of Two Countries
Jean-Jacques Bohl will describe a country torn between two governments, dealing with the day to day realities of divided loyalties while coping with an army of occupation. It was a time of mythologies, which still haunts today’s French political discourse. It was a time of heroic deeds and abject cowardice, while the French literary spirit continued to blossom. An honest and informative lecture that will shatter preconceived ideas.
Guitar Circle with Taul Paul
Guitar players, musicians, listeners and learners are welcome to join us at The Community Library every third Thursday of the month to share songs, ideas and techniques. Led by local professional musician and instructor Taul Paul, the Guitar Circle gives everyone a chance to play. Genres include, but are not limited to, Americana, Folk, Blues, and pop music of many flavors. Bring your own instrument (including guitars, violins, ukuleles, harmonicas and more) or just observe and chip in on the chorus. The library does have a collection of circulating guitars that may be checked out and used in-house or at home. Every third Thursday, come and make some musical noise @The Community Library!
