Spinning by Tillie Walden
Hi my name is Elaina. I am in 6th grade. I love to draw and to read. My favorite types of books are love stories and anything that is a graphic novel.
I really liked this book and here is why.
First, I found it super nice and calm to read. This book took me three days to read. I do not think I would read it again due to the fact it was not usually the kind of book I enjoy. Despite that fact, it had a nice story with an interesting plot.
Second, I really liked this book because of the message that it talks about how hard it can be to be yourself. There is one sad part halfway through the book which made me feel bad for the main character, Tillie. I do have to say that her parents really made me mad. The reason why her parents made me angry was they were never there. They did not come to her competitions or stay with her in her hotel room. I am glad they supported her when she told them about being gay, though. It was unexpected that the outcome that happened was so good and cool.
There are a lot of things that this book touches on, between her finding her voice, losing it, and being attacked by some you would never even think of.
Now that I think about this book, I realize that a lot more people should read this book due to its purpose and meaning. The final note I have about this book is that it is insane that this was the author’s real-life story.
