Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
Hi, I’m Advik and I’m a sophomore in high school. I love to read, watch TV, write, hang out with friends, and be outside.
Siege and Storm is the second installment in the Shadow and Bone trilogy written by Leigh Bardugo. Siege and Storm is a thrilling and exciting sequel that focuses on building on top of everything that made the first book so compelling, such as deep connections, insane character development, worldbuilding, and a phenomenal pace throughout the book.
The book continues to follow Alina Starkov, a Sun Summoner who is on the run from the Darkling with her best friend, Mal. All they want is to live a normal, peaceful life, but with the entire nation hunting them down, it seems next to impossible. When they finally run into the Darkling, they are terrified to find out he is even stronger than before, with new, evil powers. As Alina’s power as a Sun Summoner grows, she gets pulled into the political world of the Grisha, all while going through many personal problems of her own. As Alina gets pulled deeper, she discovers both new allies and enemies. As she gets to know them more, she realizes power always comes at a cost. To protect her country and free herself from the Darkling, Alina must decide who she can trust and how far she is willing to go.
I think this book was an amazing sequel to the first. It was action-packed, emotional, and fast-paced, perfect for fantasy-thriller lovers. I would suggest this book for ages fifteen and up, along with people who enjoy fast-paced fantasy with strong characters.
