The Princess and Curdie by George MacDonald
Hi, my name is Judah and I like to play soccer, ski and play tennis.
The Princess and Curdie is a fantastic work of fiction by George MacDonald that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book picks up where the first one leaves off, after the kingdom has been rid of the goblins. The kingdom is left in disarray when the great king falls very ill, allowing an evil council to take control.
The story begins when Curdie is sent on a special mission by a good fairy to save the kingdom from evildoers. He is given a secret gift that will prove invaluable on his quest. Curdie sets out accompanied by a ghastly beast who ends up saving his life multiple times.
When Curdie arrives in the main city, he is shocked by the condition it’s in. Once there, he encounters countless troubles and setbacks that hinder his efforts to aid the king. He eventually gains access to the palace and reunites with his old friend, Princess Irene, who becomes his partner in undoing the evil at work.
This book is packed with action and has a plot that keeps readers engaged. I would recommend it for ages eight and up as a great family read that everyone can enjoy.
