Peak by Roland Smith
Hi my name is Kire. I am a 8th grader who loves to read and write book reviews!
Peak is a fiction novel that follows a 14-year-old boy named Peak as he makes the journey of climbing Mount Everest. The book starts with an action-packed scene of Peak climbing the Woorwolf building in New York. This of course gets him in a ton of trouble, and he ends up in juvie until he goes to court. Once in court, the judge comes to a crazy agreement where Peak has to go live with his dad who he barely knows in China.
When Peak finally meets his dad at the airport to go to China, he is actually met with quite the surprise, Peak’s dad is having him climb Mount Everest in hopes that he will become the youngest person to climb the mountain. Peak is beyond excited about this and when he reaches the mountain he can’t wait to climb Everest. As he begins climbing Everest, he soon realizes that it’s not going to be easy. The chance of death on Everest is huge and to top it all off, Peak is taking an alternate route up the mountain which is harder than the usual one.
Will Peak make it to the top of Everest or will something catastrophic happen? Read Peak to find out.
In my opinion, Peak was a really fun and interesting book to read. There was some humor which made it fun to read and in general I found it to be a worthwhile read. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an interesting book about climbing Everest.
