Kill Joy by Holly Jackson
My name is Bria, I am in 8th grade and in my free time I enjoy skiing.
In her prequel novella Kill Joy, Holly Jackson revisits the world of her popular A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, offering fans a glimpse into the backstory of her protagonist, Pip Fitz-Amobi. This book is about how Pip picked her senior capstone project. I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and that whole series and this book helps you make sense of how she picked to solve murders for her project. The writing maintains the core elements of the main series by focusing on Pip’s sharp observational skills and strategic mind. The stakes may be lower since it’s a game, but Jackson’s portrayal of Pip’s intensity makes it feel just as compelling.
