Gold Mine Processing Associate Perla Pacheco recommends The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.

The Wild Robot is a book with a lot of meaning. It is about a robot called Roz, who washes up on the shore of remote island after a shipwreck. Alone in the wild, she learns to survive by observing the animals around her and adapting to the challenges of nature.
Overtime she comes to understand the ecosystem, forms unexpected friendships with the island animals, and becomes part of the island community. She starts to experience emotions and identity, things that robots shouldn’t have.
Until her past comes back to threaten the life she has built.
The Wild Robot is a unique and heartwarming book. What I like the most was how Roz, even though she is a robot, becomes one of the most human characters I’ve read about. Her relationships with the animals and the way she learns from the natural world made the story feel meaningful.
I also like how the book combines adventure with deeper themes about empathy and community.
This book makes me think about kindness, family, and what it means to belong. It’s a story that stays with you long after you finish it.
