This smartly tailored gaberdine suit belonged to Hannah Locke Carter, who was a member of the 1936 and 1940 U.S. Women’s Olympic Ski Team. Carter trained at Sun Valley, were she also competed in the Harriman Cup in 1939 and 40, where she placed second and fifth. She was also added to the U.S National Ski Hall of Fame in 1973. The suit was passed down from Carter to her daughter, Haydi Sowerwine, who donated the jacket to the Museum. The jacket and pants are by the internationally known Swiss salon of Gaby Jouval. The left shoulder has a patch with ” Ski Club GE GR Arlberg 1901.” The patch resembles two crossed skis.
