Once Upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris
My name is Elizabeth. I love reading, and my favorite book is My Sister’s Keeper. I am in the 8th grade and enjoy dance.
Once upon a Marigold is a book written by Jean Ferris. The plot is about a boy named Christopher who is raised by a Troll named Edric. Christopher grows up and he looks upon the castle across the river. He notices that there is a Princess who lives there and her name is Marigold. Christopher notices that no one ever touches Marigold, except her father and Christopher finds this a little suspicious. He notices that no one else touches her, not even her maids.
Edric encourages Chris to go work at the castle so he can grow up and become independent, but as Chris gets into some trouble, Edric begins to realize that he may have made a mistake making Chris leave him. Though Chris has a great time at the castle, he uncovers a few secrets of the family. He learns what happens behind the scenes of the royal family. They aren’t a perfect family like they act for their subjects. This book is one of the best I have ever read. It is suspenseful, and comedic. Throughout the book, you get to see into the real royal family, as well as how Marigold and Chris mature. There is a lot of feelings that develop throughout the plot, and it was a super great book. Although it was a little immature for my age, it was a fun read and a good pastime.
