The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
Hi, my name is Judah and I like to play soccer, ski and play tennis.
Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters is the second book in the series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians written by Rick Riordan. The book begins when Percy and his friends Anabeth and Tyson, are sent to retrieve a magic golden fleece as well as their friend Grover that has been kidnapped by an evil cyclops, hidden away on a small island. This fleece is known to heal nature and is the last ultimate hope the half-bloods have to save their camps’ magic borders from being invaded by monsters. Throughout their quest they are faced with perilous trials by monsters playing mind games and trying to kill them at all times. As well as fighting monsters, they are also in a race to find the fleece before another camper, Clarisse, uses it to try and impress her dad. On the journey the author shows the comradery and friendship that they have together while keeping the book full of well-timed humor.
This book also shows a brotherly relationship between Percy and his unexpected brother Tyson, who grows close to each other despite their differences. I would recommend this book for ages 12-15 for kids who like Greek Mythology and like a good engaging novel.
